An artificial basin was created in a high zone of Uta because of requirements of water supply in the agricultural territory. It takes in and distributes the water of the surrounding hills and of the Rio Cixerri.
The presence of the imposing barrage on the Rio Cixerri has surely improved the safety conditions of the territory in relation to the frequent floods. The dam prevents that the water in flood inundates the cultivated land and causes destruction. Moreover, it supports irrigations that are more rational.
